Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations

It was never going to be easy to follow on from last year’s extraordinary exhibition, Alexander McQueen:Savage Beauty but The Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute comes up trumps again this year with Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations , an exhibition, curated by Andrew Bolton, aiming to explore the striking affinities between Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada, two Italian designers from different eras.
The works on view are arranged into seven themes: “Waist Up/Waist Down,” “Ugly Chic,” “Hard Chic,” “Naïf Chic,” “The Classical Body,” “The Exotic Body,” and “The Surreal Body.”
I was particularly struck by the head coverings and masks and discovered they were created by legendary hair stylist, Guido Paulo who also created them for the McQueen exhibit. For more read: TREND I-SPY
